Features
In the design of the 2405FPW, Dell capitalized on the size of the monitor to offer some welcome features that the competition do not.
Memory Card Reader and 2-Port USB 2.0 Hub
On the left side of the monitor there is a memory card reader which accepts the four standard memory card types. In addition, there are four easy-access USB 2.0 ports. All of the USB devices, including the memory card reader, in the monitor work without any driver installations in Windows XP. The memory card reader and USB 2.0 hub are a very nice extra.

The Stand - Four Degrees of Freedom
Four Degrees of Freedom
The stand that the 2405FPW ships with comprises a significant percentage of the total weight of the unit, and what it lacks in sleekness, it makes up for in durability and function. The monitor pivots very smoothly from left to right - a very generous 45-degrees in either direction. In addition, the monitor can tip forward and back, about 15 degrees down and 30 degrees up. The monitor is also height adjustable along the support column by about 6 inches. A button at the base locks the vertical motion of the stand when it is fully collapsed (for shipping). A second button unlocks the stand from the panel. Two holes allow for a steel security cable. Last but not least, the monitor can rotate 90 degrees into portrait mode:

You can, of course, rotate the view in Windows to accommodate the rotation. Feel like reading a VERY long webpage? It is possible, if a little cumbersome. The monitor cannot be rotated unless it is nearly fully extended to maximum height. However, it is a nice feature, although a relatively standard one for widescreen desktop monitors.
